Lady Katherine's Room

Well- I wanted to wait until Kate's room was completely finished before I posted pictures. I think it takes a long time before a room is totally complete- so I thought I would post the progress so far! It has been so fun to decorate for a girl!

The mirror on the right as you walk in was the first thing Chip and I bought when we got married on our 1-year anniversary. I was about to put it in the basement because it didn't really have a place in our new house. We then realized we had the perfect place!

I love all these sweet pictures of her in her blessing dress!

This is the same rocker from the boy's room. My super cute sister-in-law made these chocolate slip covers with pink buttons for the cushions. I had this side table in the corner of my bedroom just holding the phone. It worked perfectly for her room! I still have to figure out what to do with the lamp- it needs color! Any ideas my decorating friends?

A few years ago my parents put something special from each of our lives in a shadow box. These are my toe shoes from when I was younger.

My Dad made this beautiful cedar chest for me when I was 16. This too found the perfect place once we finished her room! My Dad was so awesome to come and do all the beautiful wood work in this room. My mom helped me paint everything. I am so thankful for amazing parents-I couldn't have done it without them!!

I have some vinyl lettering to hang up with the words, "Kiss Me Kate." This comes from the title of a broadway musical in the 50's based on Shakespeare's play, "The Taming of The Shrew." I also have a cute frame from my friends, Megan and Michelle. I still need to fill it and find the perfect place for it! Work in progress!

OK, that is so dang cute!! She will feel like a princess in there for sure. I am not in any way crafty, however, I have seen people do some super cute things with ribbon on a lampshade. Maybe with some beaded trim. For sure you could find pink ribbon with brown polka dots etc. Just a thought! Or, you could be like me, and just buy something someone else created. It is my version of supporting the arts!!

I have never seen the room, it is so cute. I recently saw an episode of one of those local morning shows where they covered a lamp shade with cute fabric, I was wanting to try it for our living room, we can add that to our list of things to do.

My thought is this and I have no clue if it will work...You could maybe practice on something else first...Take some extra pics of Kate (I like Black and White) and get that Mod Podge stuff and glue them in a collage to the shade. You could arrange them however you want and cut them etc... to make them fit. Then you will have one more display of her cuteness. You could also use a ribbon or something to outline a few favorites.
