Grandma Helen

Caroline Helene- this post is for you! I wanted you to know about your great-grandma Helen, who you were named after. I wanted you to know a little about her and the reasons we wanted to name you after her.

Nanny has many wonderful qualities that we hope you too will possess. She is grateful for every little thing: every gift you give her, every family meal, every thoughtful gesture. She appreciates it all!

She has had a tough life in many ways. She isn't one to sit around feeling sorry for herself or complain about how rough she had it. Infact, you wouldn't even know all that unless you had heard it from someone else. She has had to press forward on many occasions and look for the silver lining. She is a strong, positive woman.

Nanny has a deep love for her country. December 7th is Pearl Harbor day and Nanny's birthday. It was on her 18th birthday that Pearl Harbor was hit. Her husband fought and was seriously wounded in WWII and basically gave up his life for our country. She knows the price of freedom and never takes it for granted!

Nanny was the first on my maternal side to listen to and accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. Living deep in the Bible belt, she took the leap of faith and let the missionaries in. Generations will thank her for the faith she had to change her family and to follow the Savior.

These are but a few of the many wonderful things we love and appreciate about your great-grandmother. We love you and hope you will follow in her footsteps.
